Summary of Position
The Adapted Physical Education (APE) Specialist will work closely with the IEP Teams to help support and strategize in providing individualized physical education instruction or services to children, youth, or adults with exceptional physical needs due to gross motor developmental delays or other impairments.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Teach adapted physical education to students in grades K-12 in an assigned school or on an itinerant assignment.
· Implement IEP related services with fidelity using appropriate lesson plans and strategies.
· Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for eligible students.
· Assess students' physical and perceptual motor needs, progress, expectations, goals, etc. for the purpose of developing baseline information for recommendations, placement, program development, and feedback to the IEP team.
· Provide for continuous evaluation of student progress toward achievement of IEP goals.
· Develop specialized equipment, goals and objectives for the purpose of improving students' motor skills.
· Advise paraprofessionals for the purpose of supporting individual student progress.
· Consult and collaborate with school staff and families in regard to students’ educational deficits
License Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in job related area
- Valid California K-12 teaching credential with authorization in Adapted Physical Education (APE)

TB test result required

Compensation
Part-Time Contract
3-10 hours/week
$80/hour
